Host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley USA is home to world-famous terrain that spans 4,000 skiable acres and six peaks. From the expansive mountaintop beginner area to unrivaled expert steeps and chutes, the resort offers terrain for all abilities. Off the slopes, guests can take a spin on the world's highest open-air ice rink overlooking Lake Tahoe, spend an afternoon snowtubing, or soak up the sun at the mountaintop swimming lagoon, open mid-March through the end of the season. In the base Village, families can relax around the cozy fire pits or stroll the streets to peruse paint-your-own pottery studios, specialty wine shops, and fine art galleries. Dining options include gourmet pizza, Mexican cuisine, sushi, and traditional fare. As part of a five year and $50 million capital improvement plan, Squaw Valley USA will be making significant improvements for the 2011-12 winter season focusing on enhanced skiers services and way-finding, dynamic culinary services and an improved beginner experience and mountain activities.
